Button Poppy – Free Crochet Pattern

Poppies have become a rather famous flower for its many uses and symbolism.  I can never think of poppies without thinking of The Wizard of Oz, while others may more commonly associate them with the remembrance of war veterans.

Our poppy pattern has been crocheted in red, but there is also a yellow variations – the California Poppy.

This flower can be worked with any weight of yarn. Finer weights will create a smaller flower, and bulkier weights will create a larger flower. Use the hook size appropriate for the yarn you choose. We used worsted weight yarn and a size H-8 hook in our samples. You’ll also need a black or dark brown button approximately one inch in diameter.
