Report from CGOA – Design competition Part 1

This year I attended the Fall 2013 Crochet Guild of America Knitting and Crochet Conference held at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Concord, North Carolina.  One of the highlights of the CGOA conference was the Design Competition. Talented crochet artists exhibited their designs for judging with four winners in of the six cateogories; Accessories, Afghans and Home Décor, Small Accessories, Fashion, Thread Crochet and Artisitic Expressions. There was one Grand Prize Winner over all the entries in the competition.

Entries in the CGOA Design Competition were judged based on a range of criteria that included design appeal, workmanship, use of stitches, finishing, selection of materials used in the design, color choices and the appearance and functionality as indicated on the entry.

All entries were the original work of the entrant and were not previously entered in a competition or the patterns published. Award winners for the Grand Prize, Accessories Category, Afghans and Home Décor Category and Small Accessories Category are listed below. The full listing can also be found on the CGOA Blog at http://cgoanow.blogspot.com/2013/10/cgoa-2013-design-competition-results.html
