Seeking to experiment with a new crochet style this summer? Tunisian crochet, also known as “Afghan Crochet,” or “Afghan Stitch,” is a unique fusion between knitting and crochet. There is no need to turn the work over as you crochet, as each row is worked in two passes. In the “forward” pass, loops are worked onto the hook, and loops are worked back off the hook during the “reverse” pass. This crocheting style makes Tunisian crochet fun and easy for beginners to learn, and makes for some stunning and elegant designs.
These new easy Tunisian crochet hooks featured on Maggie’s Crochet should help any beginner get started on some lovely designs.
The book Tunisian Crochet Encore, also featured on Maggie’s Crochet, contains both beginning and advanced techniques for women’s garments and accessories.
And here are some other classy designs:

And once you’re done experimenting with some Tunisian crochet outfits, be sure to add some crochet jewelry!
