Maggie’s Delicious
Apple Pie
A friend gave me this recipe years ago. I’ve reduced the original sugar amount by half.
Granny Smith apples work great.

Ingredients:
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon salt
6 cups thinly sliced apples
1/4 cup cream
3 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon milk
2 pie crust deep dish1. Mix sugars, flour, spices & salt in small bowl. Spread 1/3 apples in crust. Sprinkle 1/3 flour mixture. Repeat 3 times.2. Pour cream into center. Dot with butter. Place 2nd crust atop pie. Cut slits in top crust.3. Squeeze edges together. Baste top of crust with milk and sprinkle with sugar.4. Bake at 400 degrees for 1 hour on cookie sheet bottom rack. Check crust browning while baking. Cover with foil if browning too much. Let cool before eating. |
