One of our favorite things to do on Independence Day is to grill out, and Americans love to grill hot dogs. Did you know that Americans consume about 155 million hot dogs on Independence Day alone? That’s a lot of hot dogs. Independence Day is the biggest hot dog day on the calendar!
Americans also love to decorate for Independence day. Red, white and blue are the colors of the day, and you’ll see stars and stripes everywhere. You can crochet this Star Applique and decorate an oven mitt like we’ve done here, or create your own decorated items. How about decorating a table cloth, apron, or kitchen towel in addition to your oven mitts?
This pattern is super easy to crochet using Home Cotton worsted weight yarn. Cotton will hold it’s shape better than an acrylic yarn when using it for appliques like this star, and Home Cotton is made to stay brighter longer, so your decorations will keep looking fresh and new.
