When you have fair skin, a little protection goes a long way against the rays of the sun. This Raffia Sun Hat is the perfect summertime accessory for anyone. It is crocheted in the round from the top of the head down to the brim using half double crochets and double crochets.

Raffia Sun Hat is crocheted using Home Raffia Yarn from Premier Yarns. Raffia Yarn is a #4 medium weight yarn consisting of 100% Cellulose Rayon. It come in natural (a light tan) and a variety of colors including Azurite, seen above.
You will need five balls of Raffia yarn and H-8 and F-5 hooks for this project. The brim is stiffened by a piece of millinery wire or a similar product woven in after finishing the last round. The finished project has a crown circumference of 22 inches and an diameter of 17 inches, including the brim.
Christina loves wearing this hat around the office. We can’t get it off her.
