The first “official” Memorial Day was held in Waterloo, New York on May 5, 1866 when the people of Waterloo declared the day to honor soldiers who died during the Civil War. Today in cities and towns across America, families attend parades and place wreaths to honor our fallen heroes.
Teaching our children about Memorial Day and all of our country’s history is very important. Imagine how proud your little girl will be when she carries this cute Patriotic Child’s Purse to your Memorial Day events. This little purse is crocheted using Serenity Chunky bulky weight yarn. The star appliques are crocheted using Serenity Baby worsted weight yarn. Any project works up quickly when you use Serenity Chunky, and it’s sure to be super soft as well. You will also need two crochet hooks, size I/9 for the stars and size J/10 for the purse. The Dreamz Symfonie Crochet hook set contains sizes E/4 through L/11 and are some of our favorite crochet hooks. They are colorful and beautiful to look at, warm to touch, and have a deep grooved throat that prevents stitches from slipping off the hook. We’re sure you’ll love them as much as we do.
