The Berry Stitch is one of many cluster, bobble, and popcorn stitches. All such stitches are designed to make some sort of “bump” in the fabric you are crocheting. Like a shell stitch, there are many variations of a berry stitch and you should always check your pattern for specific instructions.
In this pattern, the berries are off-set in each row. You may find other patterns where they are stacked on top of each other in columns.
This stitch repeat can be worked with any size yarn. Use the hook size recommend for whatever yarn you choose. Worsted weight yarn is a good size to practice with and is what we used in the tutorial video.

I need to have someone show me how to put octagon patterns togather. I can’t understand the instructions. Does any one have step by step ways to show me?
Hi Lillian,
We don’t currently have a tutorial for octagons, but I’ll add it to our request list.
Berry Stitch Video #5, I think.
Love that texture! Can this easily be used in garments-loosely fitted shawsls might be OK but I think anything closely fitted might be a challenge to do the pattern while increasing, decreasing, etc to fit it-would that be accurate? or not? I need input. I want a scarf made with this, very soft cushy yarn, lots of planning going on for me.
What would be outcome if the first stitch weren’t pulled through a loop-how would it change, why not do it that way or is it called something else, what if that’s possible? hat is rationale for pulling it through that first one?
I like it when Cristina uses yarn that has a cotton look as it seems easier to see the actual stitch (from an earlier video-shows less fuzz). I really enjoyed her showing the washcloth in start of video as it showed the stitch completely so only paying attention to how done left for video, cuts down on that mind wandering onto alternatives.
Added video request-wishing I could see items made with this berry stitch so I could plan my use of berry stitch. Are there alternates of this?
